Excel Functions

You can tell Cortana to enter functions for you in to Excel. For complex functions, Cortana will build the function with you by asking questions about the function inputs.

  • SUM
    • Say: Get the sum 
    • Or: Get the sum of <cells> (or row <alphabet> or column <number>)
  • VLOOKUP
    • Say: Do a vlookup
  • IF
    • Say: Do an If statement
  • MAX
    • Say: Get the Maximum 
    • Or: Get the Maximum in <cells> (or rows or columns)
  • MIN
    • Say: Get the Minimum
    • Or:  Get the Minimum in <cells> (or rows or columns)
  • COUNT
    • Say: Get the Count
    • Or: Get the Count  of <cells> (or rows or columns)
  • LEFT
    • Say: Take the first <number> of digits from <cell> and put them in <cell>
    • Or: Do a Left Function
  • RIGHT
    • Say: Take the last <number> of digits from <cell> and put them in <cell>
    • Or: Do a Right Function
  • ROUND
    • Say: Round the numbers 
    • Or: Round a number
  • PROPER
    • Say: Capitalize the words in cell <cells>
  • NOW
    • Say: Get the current date
  • CONCATENATE
    • Say: Combine <cells>
  • All Other Functions
    • Say: Insert Function <function>
